KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (Bernama) – If you’ve got a striking image or short video on financial inclusion in Africa, the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) would like to invite you to submit it to its 13th annual photo contest.
Up to 20 photos or videos may be submitted at http://photocontest.cgap.org by Dec 14.
CGAP is training its lens on Africa this year because the region is a centre for financial innovation: home to M-Pesa, the mobile money service launched a decade ago and now replicated across markets worldwide; host to vibrant FinTech and e-commerce companies; and a growing off-grid sector that leverages digital finance.
Together these innovators contribute toward lifting many thousands of households from poverty.
“We look forward to submissions that capture in a powerful way both the challenges and opportunities of extending financial services to all,” said CGAP chief executive officer, Greta Bull, in a statement today.
The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers and videographers who can visually tell the story of how financial services empower poor people and communities in three categories: reaching excluded people, brighter prospects for young people, and digital finance and development.
The grand prize winners -- one each in photo and video -- will be awarded US$2,000 (US$1 = RM4.13) gift certificates for photography or video equipment. Additional winners in each of the three categories will receive gift certificates of up to US$1,000.
