In vitro studies: Xlear kills and/or deactivates SARS-CoV-2
This is “validated by two independent sets of experiments, performed by different labs, on different viral strains...” The Virucidal studies were independently funded.
“The Virucidal Studies shed important light on the role Xlear can play in helping combat the COVID-19 pandemic,” said research team leader, Dr Gustavo Ferrer.
Nasal sprays, such as Xlear, reduce viral load in the nose, which is vital in fighting COVID-19, according to a statement.
Research shows COVID-19 primarily infects and spreads through the upper respiratory system. By reducing viral load in the nose, nasal sprays help limit the severity and transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
Xlear has been used for over 20 years by millions of people worldwide without a single significant adverse incident report.
“Building on the existing data, these Virucidal Studies show Xlear is not just antiviral, it is virucidal (kills/deactivates SARS-CoV-2). This combination of antiviral and virucidal capabilities is an important one-two punch in fighting the virus,” said Xlear Chief Executive Officer, Nathan Jones.

Taiwanese e-bikes riding high with strong industry chain
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 -- With the international e-bike market being driven by Europe as demand for e-bikes among seniors in the EU market increases, the average unit price of e-bikes exported to the EU from Taiwan has also risen significantly by 36.7 per cent, creating an increase in the overall export value of e-bikes.
Taiwan's export structure, apart from Europe, is led by exports of e-bikes to North America and in 2019 reached 144 thousand units in volume, ranking first in terms of growth of export value among all regions.
The rising awareness of environmental protection and the popularisation of leisure and fitness concepts, e-bikes have become a new model of ‘green transportation’ due to their various advantages, such as power saving and zero pollution.
Since the rise of the sharing economy, the Taiwanese bicycle industry was hit hard as the overall export value of Taiwanese bicycles slid downward. However, e-bikes have experienced ‘a rise in both volume and price’ recently.
According to a statement, the Taiwanese bicycle industry stresses quality over quantity as well as pursuing high-tech and high-value-added products. It has also greatly affected the development of global bicycle technology.
In recent years, Taiwan's two major bicycle brands - Giant and Merida - have actively developed e-bike products, to satisfy the global demand.
Giant, whose bicycles are currently sold in over 50 countries with over 10,000 distributors globally, has been developing power-assisted bicycles since 1999. It was also the first brand to bring power-assisted bicycles into the European market.
Founded in 1972, Merida Industry Co Ltd has also been targeting the trend of e-bikes. This year, Merida launched the eONE-SIXTY and has again won the Taiwan Excellence Silver Quality Award due to its variety of unique designs.

Based on the data collected by Eco-Counter, a global statistics and analysis organization for people flow data, the 2019 Worldwide Cycling Index showed an increase in recreational cycling of 3% between 2017 and 2018. It is generally believed that with the growing popularity of eco-friendly recreational activities around the globe, leisure cycling activities will lead to an ever increasing demand for bicycles. In particular, mountain biking and cyclocross biking, which give cyclists a great sense of achievement by helping them to conquer challenging mountain terrain at high speed, are coming to be regarded as mainstream recreational biking activities.
Mountain bikes (MTBs) were created in the 1970s and the major characteristics of such bikes include rough tires and shock-absorbing front forks; these enable MTBs to conquer any and all terrain. Over the past few decades, the mountain bike has greatly evolved and can now be divided into two categories: suspension bikes and full-suspension mountain bikes.

Takara Belmont's new hair analysis technology will revolutionise haircare
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 -- Takara Belmont Corporation (Takara Belmont) has developed a new technology for analysing hair, leading to the discovery of structural changes in the medulla, the central part of hair previously largely not visible to researchers.
As a result, it has developed a new hair care system, designated ‘Hair Medulla Care’, which beautifies hair by reconstructing the medulla.
Looking ahead, Takara Belmont will build on these findings to deepen scientific knowledge of the medulla, with a view to applying the research in new hair care products.

The Takara Belmont Cosmetics Laboratory has developed a new hair-sectioning technology for directly observing the internal structure in order to analyse the medulla in detail.
Takara Belmont will pursue further research into Hair Medulla Care and investigate a variety of hair conditions in addition to graying in order to accelerate medulla research and its application to products.
Going forward, the company will create new technologies and new value, apply them to merchandise and services, and spread the hope of beauty by responding to the hair-related concerns of people worldwide.

Rethinking travel via regenerative tourism, technology advancement
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 -- With world arrivals forecast to be down 50 per cent by 2020-end, the global travel supply chain is under immense pressure, according to global market research company, Euromonitor International.
In Euromonitor International’s new report, ‘Accelerating Travel Innovation after Coronavirus’, countries are using innovation to accelerate recovery due to the reality of a global recession and new waves of the virus.
According to a statement, in Europe, a strong rebound of five per cent real GDP growth and a 76 per cent increase in inbound receipts are expected next year.
Sustainable tourism will play a big part in the recovery process, with countries looking to achieve net positive impact for local communities, especially in destinations suffering from over-tourism, like Barcelona.

Expanding on the success of LG’s relationship with sister brand Tremor Video in North America, the company can now provide brands with unique reach and uncluttered, highly viewable placements that drive action across all LG Smart TVs and video within the LG Channels app worldwide.
According to Unruly research, almost half (42 per cent) of consumers spend ‘a lot more time’ watching connected TV (CTV) content since the pandemic began, and after viewing an ad, ad-supported CTV users are 52 per cent more likely to buy a product compared to linear TV viewers.
Leveraging CTV’s spike in viewership and ability to drive positive consumer behaviours effectively, the partnership gives advertisers access to an engaged viewing audience, native banner and video placements that add value to the customer experience and customisable interactivity with contextual alignment that drive brand objectives.
“We’re excited to partner with LG to grow its CTV advertising globally. During COVID-19 in particular, it’s more important than ever to help advertisers realise the true value of their ad inventory and maximise yield,” said Unruly Chief Strategy Officer, Ken Suh in a statement.
Unruly’s premium supply side video advertising platform for CTV, online video and display, UnrulyX, is powered by 3,000 direct premium publisher relationships, along with access to the most popular CTV devices and platforms.
