Wanted: foreign chefs for 8-month Japanese cuisine training programme in Japan

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Non-Japanese chefs keen to learn Japanese cuisine have been invited to apply for a training programme, with support from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The programme consists of Japanese language and basic Japanese culinary training, followed by practical restaurant training in the premium Japanese cuisine and sushi restaurants in Japan altogether, for eight months.


The training period begins on July 1 and ends in February next year.

Interested participants can submit the application form, beginning May 15, whereby final participants will be selected by May-end, according to a statement from the Japanese Cuisine and Food Culture Human Resource Development Committee.

Selected participants will be supported for flight round ticket expenses home country to/from Japan, tuition for the Japanese language school and culinary school and accommodation cost for staying in Japan.

Participants who wish to acquire the knowledge and skills of Japanese cuisine in the programme are expected to promote the magnificence of Japanese cuisine, food culture and Japan-produced ingredients worldwide.
