Japan's centuries-old traditional art comes alive at Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo


KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 (Bernama) -- Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo (KPH), one of Japan’s most prestigious international hotels in Shinjuku will host the ‘39th Arita and Imari Porcelain Exhibition – The Old and the New in Harmony’, come July.

The event which begins on July 1, ends on Aug 5.

According to a statement, the exhibition will introduce the Arita and Imari porcelain, the first ceramics made about 400 years ago in the southern island of Kyushu, Japan.

Eight renowned and modern porcelain makers from the Arita and Imari regions of Saga Prefecture in Kyushu will display and sell their products.

The hotel’s restaurants will also serve specially-prepared foods using Arita and Imari porcelain, whereby visitors also can purchase porcelain products after dining at the restaurants.

Space producer and Japan Party Planner Association chairman, Yoko Maruyama and her associates will create special coordinated table settings using porcelain dishes to demonstrate how to beautifully integrate porcelain into daily lifestyles.

This year marks the 39th time of the exhibition, reflecting the strong interest in Arita and Imari porcelain products. The exhibition aims to provide international guests an experience in the beauty of Japan’s traditional Arita and Imari porcelain products.
